For almost 3 weeks we offer 3 hours for 20 pesos only. So cheap that many loves it! lols... yeah, so obvious that we can't accommodate more users to use our services, so others wait.
But tomorrow, we will be starting with a new rate. its 15.00 per hour Flat Rate! yes, we decided already about it! i'm more concern of the students using our cafe than the professionals who just pass by sometimes for an internet. I think it's fair already for the students to have it low, than pulling a 20 bucks that's so heavy. Professionals don't care about the 20, since they have it or they can just refund it to their company.
So if you can just drop by, its 15.00 per hour Flat Rate. We don't offer games, but we can offer it to the few. So try us if we can give you games. Only to selected few, because we don't want a lot of people hanging out and so noisy inside the cafe. So as long as we can agree that you keep your voice minimize, they we can give you the game!

HangUps!
Since the start of the amigoas icafe, we always have problems with internet explorer hanging up every time you open the browser. This is very annoying and frustrating because the customer always complain about it.
In response to that, we have a Mozilla firefox in the rescue. Hmm, not really a rescue since the default browser in all the computer is firefox. I love firefox. But users know internet explorer exactly. They always click on the blue logo always, so it ends up hanging up. Its just the application that hangs-up since we can just kill the process.
But today, i found the tweaks for it. Since the start of the IE7, they added Add-ons in the browser. Add ons are already with Firefox and it loads faster than the IE7. The IE7, when you start it, it hang always, especially with the Skype Add on.
So when we found this out, we disabled all Add ons.
After that we never had a customer complain that IE7 hang up. :)

so little time...
can i have some more? i wish we can ask those question and be answered with YES! a question like, can i have more time? with these phrase i can remember the story of Lazarus and the rich man. Lazarus, a poor and only eat what is fallen from the rich man's table. Not the left over, but whatever food falls to the ground because the left over, maybe, is for the dog. When they both died, lazarus went to heaven and the rich man suffer in furnace. The rich man asked God if he can go back so he can tell his relatives to do good things to their neighbors, but God denied his request.
The rich man has done his time on earth already. And for us reading this now, we are still on our time and we don't know when we will die.
But my point is not that i need more time. I'm just thinking of what if i have all the time, or i have the time that i'm asking.
Everyday, i feed my self to work. I work because i love to work. Since the start of the cafe there were responsibilities added to my daily list. I'm happy to be responsible in all things that i do. But still there are some that i miss. Since then, i started to free my self from all those. Not that i don't like to do this or im unhappy, but just thinking that i can have more time with less things to do. Actually, i don't have a lot to do, it just only i added things in my to do list. What more i can do? I still have more time...
Our life is really an unending quest for something or maybe a pursuit of any happiness... any happiness! Anything that makes us happy. we always pray that God would lend us more time and He granted those desires but still we put more things and even forgot to put God in our time... whew... head shot!
I admit that i forgot giving Him the time. I need time to do my work. I'm in a deadline of my work and ask for a time. I ask God that God would help me to do more work but putting him was never in my list...

Windows Vista cafe journey
I'm aware that i used windows vista in my cafe and im also aware that vista is still in its early stage of release. So i'm expecting for bugs, exploits and software incompatibility in the edition that i installed in all workstations.
Windows vista, for me as an end user, its good for an internet cafe. Since it is used only for emails and browsing. The cafe is almost a month already and everyday we see problems and we provide solutions so we can give the expected service from us. Im not a pro in all things especially in computers. i learned things by trial and error only. I do reading and browsing in all the forums that google will give me in its results. Yes i admit that i failed to give the solution, but its a never ending quest for better life. in every solutions that i provide to every problem in the cafe gives me confidence that i can face more complex problems and that i can provide it with a simple answer, i will give you the solution.
This is what is happening inside the cafe that i'm managing. I'm heading the technical aspects. All my crew/attendant are all knowledgeable in computer hardwares. But still, we admit that things are new. At least we are honest in ourselves and we never brag but put in our hearts and minds that we are in business of giving real service.
Vista is exploited all the time. One of the common problem that we have is the Internet explorer that always halt to process. What we do is to kill the process through our server because we cannot close it in the workstation. When we kill the process successfully then everything will just goes well. From then, we advise our customers to just use Mozilla Firefox instead and we cannot provide more solutions to the problem unless microsoft will do its best to secure their products. Another problem that we encounter is the connection of our workstation to our timer. Sometimes there are 2 or 3 workstation that don't connect to the timer properly and what we do is to just login in the workstation and just put the started time in the server. But we cannot control the workstation time anymore. We just always checked the time that the user will not go beyond the time that he wanted to pay. Aside from that everything goes well.
We are gaining members with an average of 3 person a day. Membership in the cafe is like the Library system. You sign up with your username and we will give the default password. Everybody can avail one. It's hassle free because members don't have to ask the counter anymore if they want to use. They only go inside and look for a free station and login. They can budget the time that they will use. If they doesn't have anymore credits in their accounts they can just reload it through paying from the counter and automatically they can use again their account.
We have very nice computers. Everybody says and praise how we setup the cafe. Its new in town. And so far we only have isolated problems when it comes to connection because we have to 2 redundant connections. if one fails, the other will backup. The only comment that i don't want to hear is that, that we have very nice computer with bad connection. So we should always look at that. But so far, never that we heard that comment from the end-users. If ever that will happen, i will honestly that we fail to provide that.
Everyday in the cafe is fun moment. Since the start, i never had a day that i was not in the cafe. I personally look at how the attendant attends to the needs of the cafe, how the computers functions or fail and how everything flows and how the business is doing its business. So far so good. But still we didn't yet reach the goal that we want, and we are working on it. :)
With all of these, i am grateful to have this responsibility and its a joy working and giving solutions to every needs of the cafe user and a friend to all. :)

multiplication of skills
Fwendz Diner is now open at Metro Avenue... So if you need to hang out with beers, its worth to be there... :) I was there at the opening last night... :)

Anyway, i was just talking with a friend last night and again one of my plan came out. Right now, the cafe is already running ang catching up with its expenses (wish all will be paid). And we are gaining customers confidence already, loyalty i will say. Sometimes its to bit noisy but manageable as we always tell our customers to just calm down their voices. :) Everything works fine now and moving but still there are some things to be done practically.
Anyway, as one of my plan is to share what i have. Especially with PHP and MySQL. And i want to have a team with me to work together, not to have an outsourcing company but just to have a team to work with websites, special projects like the amigoas. It's hard to look for PHP programmers as you have to pay them but my plan is to train willing people. People who have a volunteer spirit. I will be sharing my techniques and together we will learn techniques and methods for us to developed websites that goes with the trends. One of these is a social networking website. Yes, its amigoas. A lot of people is telling my what is my next plan for the site, as i always tell them, i still need more time to think more of unique features for the site and i need people to do it. I think its more mature to have people and delegate works and duties. The GROUP spirit i would say.
I already had tapped some prospects. We will be learning together. We will be setting up webserver locally and do websites. If we can make money, then let it be. But the goal of this is to do the amigoas again. To make amigoas more lively again. :)
i will continues about this more, in details in the next coming days. :) I'm tired now.

Ease the time with Hot fusion cofee at Cofee Pod!
Days are cruel sometimes for me. Errands here and there while pleasing everybody's request and that includes watching over the clients in the cafe...
But that doesn't count all day... at least a part of the day includes a coffee break that i always and forever be anxious to have, a fresh hot cup i will say!
this is the part of the day that i do enjoy. just passing the time having my coffee in hand while listening to the nice smooth rhythmn of the music playing in the background. not to mention admiring one of the prettiest ladies i have set my eyes on.
Well i know its exaggerating a little bit but its during this moments that you can feel relaxed. A little R & R for my part for i do need it having one of the tidious jobs.

hahahha... now, that's very obvious that it was not me who wrote the 2 above paragraph since i'm not an adjective person and i'm still dreaming that i can be a good writer. he is a good friend of mine, poy, who wrote it for me! hahahah...
right now we are just hanging out at Cofee Pod. ow, if you would like to join us sometimes, its located at torres st., its the street where good and great foods are located...
Cofee pod, a cofee shop that offers free wifi access for you portable devices... :)

hey it's already kadayawan!
seems like time is fast running already and i know nothing on what is happening all around me. I should know what happens all around me because i'm a part of all these, all these that they call world.
After a month and half of building the desire that was laid in our hearts it's now already up. The cafe is in business now. Everybody is welcome! YES WE ARE ALREADY OPEN and WE ARE ALREADY in BUSINESS with YOU!
Things were so fast for me and i miss a lot of those. I miss sleeping so tight and sleeping like a baby. Hope that i can sleep like that again that even now, i though that i can rest and goes to my PHP work, but i was half-wrong about it. There are still a lot of things to be done like making sure everything works fine for the the good of the customers. It's now different. Before i'm a just a client and deserves to be served with a good service. Right now, i am managing and customer should be given what they should deserve, A GOO SERVICE.
But its a learning process. As everyday passes, with so little customers coming in and out, i'm at peace and satisfied. I'm happy everyday, waking at 7 and opening the cafe at 8 and go home at 12midnight. Im happy, im at peace and im satisfied because this is my passion, to be in the net, to be with computers.
But business is different. You got to have strategy just to cover up the first month expenses. Honestly, we don't have anymore. We just rely on praying to God that everything will just be fine and paid, and of course it will be coupled with determination and action in our part.
Some of my time also falls on making flyers and giving them out to streets. To everybody. We welcome everybody. Some of it falls to just praying that God would bring more clients to us and be fair to other cafe also.
Anyway, we venture and we know this is risky. But life is like that.
My only wish for the coming days is that we will have loyal friends to use our service. Hope that you can support us by going here in our cafe.
Personally, still i have lot of compromises to be done. First, the websites for my outsourced clients. I am very grateful that they lend me time to focused for this cafe. Now i have to give back what should be for them. But im a nocturnal person and right now im having a hard time gaining momentum for my websites.
I really need support and prayers from you who can read this. I just want to be fair to the people who believes in me that i can be a solution to their problem. YES, i admit i'm a solution.
