Where is SharedReader?

It was my 5-day fame about SharedReader. Now, I even asked myself where is SharedReader and I will answer it too...

It was friday evening, January 18, that I was testing some codes for the SharedReader and suddenly I noticed a flaw in the database design. I'm not getting any more updates of the shared feeds and somehow lost my way into it. However, I gave time to it and fixes some issues and uploaded it. Saturday came and there are still unseen major bugs, so I temporarily hid the site from the internet because still, the new shared feeds are not getting anything. But during this time, my ISP has started messing up until I can't connect anymore to the internet.

Until now, my ISP is still in contact with me for some fixes. About SharedReader, I will put it back online as soon as I can.

Thank you very much.

Where are we from down below....

Last week, I shared SharedReader to the world. This was not my first time showing my websites to the net. However, this time this is different. A day after I launched it, this was noticed so quickly in the blogosphere. Now, I realized this is how it is in the business of the internet information.

SharedReader followed ReadBurner. But ReadBurner is way ahead for SharedReader for everything.

Realizing to this fact, I started to think where are we from here in the Philippines when it comes to information, specifically Davao City.

SharedReader has gone it's way to the foreign countries, but you know what, there was not even a buzz here in our area. Only I can count it through my fingers and to some closest friends that knew about this SharedReader. The fact is, nobody really is using much of FEEDS, or the Google Reader. I don't know what they used for feed aggregations but just so silence in here.

If we have to look to other technologies, say, Del.icio.us, Facebook and the most popular websites that costs billion and has millions of users, only some of us really used those services here. I have facebook account because I like to see that Website. I don't have much of collections inside facebook. I do use Del.icio.us for my bookmarks. At least wherever I go, i can get intouch with my bookmarks.

It's not a sad fact. That's makes us geographically different. If they have Facebook, most of us here have friendster. Not much of us or not much of the Friendster users uses Del.icio.us. Most of us has Yahoo!mail account. I always tell people that it's very good to use Gmail, but they ended up always with Yahoo!. And there are some that do sponsored reviews, its another way of earning much from here.

When it comes to development, you can't see a lot of us PHP users, but there are hungry students eager to learn about it. That's why I initiated the Amigoas Youth Development Program(AYDP) so we can tutor students about Web development. That excludes the availability of legitimate softwares where most of softwares used are cracked. That doesn't exclude me from that. But with AYDP, we teach web development using Free and Open Source softwares.

As a developer, this always not easy to be with the flow. First is the availability of information and learning. The availability of people that you can look up when you're really in a mess and third are the finances.

The only source for information that we have is the internet. And I always look up that i wish I'm a part of it.

This is the reality of where I belong.

With the suggestion of Paul Arterburn and his FireFox addon (Google Reader Comments), I integrated the intesedebate.com comment system. It was a very good suggestion. Thank you very much Paul for that.

No blogger/blogspot pages found...

Since yesterday, i was having a hard time connecting to my blog site, http://blog.dennesabing.com. But i can login to Blogger.com and post and write post but cannot save posts. This happen since the updates and blogger blackout that was reported.

Until now i cannot login into it... but i was able to see the problem just today. Here in the cafe that i am dwelling, there are 2 connections. the PLDT and the DCTech connections. I cannot connect through the PLDT connections and i can connect throught the DCTech connection. This problem since I knew it, was not new here inside the cafe.

The problem happens already when we were starting the cafe. The websites that we cannot open were the Microsoft websites and all the other websites were just ok.

So this calls the PLDT I think. I'm posting this blog message through the DCTech connection.

For the last days, all updates were in my twitter. http://twitter.com/dennesbabing

the SharedReader vs. ReadBurner

I got some very good feedback from friends from my newly launched SharedReader *beta, and most of the feedback were in comparison with ReadBurner.

I am well aware of the ReadBurner buzz since last week because I subscribe to feeds too and currently gaining popularity. I salute the one who made ReadBurner. But that didn't stop me from continuing on working with SharedReader. I think this is the best time to come out of this technology with Google Reader shared items. And also with the availability of the shared feed's URL for testing.

I do like Google Reader and the idea will always be the same, to know what's the most popular shared items in Google Reader. This is the main concept of the application that ReadBurner and SharedReader has. The only difference are: first, The developer's themselves, second, our codes has big difference because we didn't shared it. I don't know what are the inside of the ReadBurner and and last and most obvious less-important difference is the appearance.

I like graphics. So I played for it's appearance. No Google-colors touch. I just lost that. lols.

With all of these, Google Reader rules!

Hehehehehe.

I'm not into competition but only to prove within myself that I can do what my mind can create. Nobody told me to create SharedReader nor paid me. I wish somebody will pay me to create it.

With all of these, I thank you my dearest friends. Thanks for the support.

SharedReader *beta Launched

I just launched the SharedReader *beta.

SharedReader just burst out of nowhere. I know this is not a unique service but i'm very happy that I able to develop this during my spare times. When things get rough, I work on whatever comes into my mind and most of the them weren't finish.

I'm fan of Google Reader. I mostly read blogs from Google Reader than the bookmarks that I have with my Firefox browser. And there is this one service that Google Reader and the readers can share what they have in their feed's list. It's more of retelling stories and spreading it.

This is the first of PHP project that I have that parse data from remote servers. It's very simple and straighforward application.

You have the Google Reader Shared Item feed, of course you can get it if you have a Google Reader and if you do share some of what you have. Get the Shared Item feed URL and feed it here at SharedReader. By then, the script will get to the remote and parse the feeds through an XML parser and put them in accessible arrays so I can save it in my database then the counting of the articles and those who shares begins in the background.

This isn't a perfect tool or developed application, but a succes in my part.

Thank you very much and maybe you can be a help.

Marc Escabas Guestbook.

Keep up the good work guys! I believe in all of you!

A year continues....

Nothing to end but to continue what I've been doing for the last year. Do the things what I loved to do, and do some community thing.. hahahahah! The only thing that i can offer is to spread PHP to more willing minds and hands!

Last year was so great that I've been blessed with a lot of people. Friends, really good friends, family, great relationships and networks.

2007 was a year that Amigoas Internet Cafe born out of almost a year of planning with great heads, not only from the industry of internet cafes but from people who are out of nowhere are willing to extend some great financial lengths. Because this is not only for few, but for everybody. Through this initiative a lot of young minds will start a revolution soon when it comes to technology.

Amigoas will not only a cafe for business but a place of learning also where we are willing to extend hands and help this generation realize that they are really the future of this country. Sounds boring actually, but its true.

The last year ended with a kick-off start for the Amigoas Youth Development Program, (AYDP). AYDP focuses on training some selected and willing Out-of-School Youths and Students to be train for PHP/CSS/MySQL, in 1-word, for Web Development. We started with 8 students. We started with 8 because we can only cover 8 sponsorship last December. But soon, maybe we can cover more youth to learn Web Development. We choose web development us a module for tutorial because we know that websites are now very common medium for communication especially in our technology age and because I am on it.

On January 14, 2008 Corel Shares will start teaching selected OSY's using CorelDraw. This is a project of the City Vice-Mayor of Davao City, Inday Sara. And we are very grateful because Amigoas Internet Cafe was chosen as the venue for teaching. The teacher to this CorelShares is no other than Mr. Ray Rubio, a world-class CorelDraw Designer.

Amigoas was born out of passion to bring the best out of our hidden talents. Back in February 2004 where Amigoas was started to birth in my heart. It was a true desire that I can make a Friendster-like website, then it came to pass and was a reality. Amigoas.com was born and so the friends and the best-friends and the soon were couples started to linger among us. We made it.

With desire and passion I know that we can do something not only for ourselves but for the best of the community.

So this year, I'm excited to see more things out of passion to birth within our young-minds and hearts that we can do impossible things and made Davao proud of Us.

Happy New Year, 2008!
